In June 2025 The Wall Street Journal reported that Meta aims to let brands fully automate their advertising by the end of 2026. The idea: upload a product image or your website, set a budget, and Meta's AI writes the copy, creates the images and video, chooses the audience and decides where the ad runs. Much of this is already arriving inside Advantage+ campaigns.
For a small business without a designer or media buyer, that sounds like a gift. Sometimes it is.
What Meta is building
- Ad creative generated from a product photo or web page: images, short videos and text variations.
- Automatic audience selection, rather than you choosing ages and interests.
- Budgets shifted automatically towards whichever ads and placements perform best.
- Personalised versions of the same ad for different people and places.
Where it helps
- Testing many angles quickly. AI can produce dozens of variations to find which message works, something a small team could never shoot by hand.
- Clear products with clear pages. An online store with good photos, prices and reviews gives the AI strong material.
- Owners with no time. It removes much of the day-to-day fiddling inside the ad account.
Where it wastes money
- Weak inputs, multiplied. The AI builds ads from what you give it. A vague offer or a poor product page becomes vague ads, at scale.
- Small budgets learn slowly. Automated systems need data. At a few thousand rupees a month, the AI may spend much of your budget just learning.
- Brand drift. Generated visuals and copy can drift away from how your business looks and speaks.
- The wrong goal. If you optimise for clicks or cheap leads, the AI will find you clicks and cheap leads, not customers.
- Everything after the click. No ad tool fixes a slow website, a confusing offer or a WhatsApp message that waits four hours for a reply.
The inputs you still control
- Your offer: what you sell, to whom, and why it is worth the price.
- Your landing page: the page the ad sends people to.
- Your brand assets: real photos, logo, colours and a few examples of how you speak.
- Your goal: purchases, qualified enquiries or booked calls, measured properly.
- Your follow-up: how fast you reply and what happens to people who don't buy straight away.
Our verdict
Use the automation. It is getting better, and fighting it is usually a losing battle. But treat it as a powerful engine, not a driver. Fix the offer, the page and the follow-up first, give the AI strong brand material, and judge it on real sales. That is the same order we recommend in why more ads won't fix falling sales.
Automated ads amplify whatever you feed them. Feed them a clear offer.
